NORTHEAST EDITING, INC., EXPANDS TEAM WITH NEW HIRE

May 11, 2009—Northeast Editing, Inc., added a new member to its top-notch staff in May–editor Angela Harmon. Northeast Editing proudly welcomes Ms. Harmon, who spent four years as a copy editor for The Citizen’s Voice, a newspaper based in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Ms. Harmon also served for two years as a specialty page coordinator at R.H. Donnelly, a large publisher of telephone books. At Northeast Editing, Ms. Harmon will use her expertise to edit and proofread a variety of educational, scholarly, and library-reference materials. Ms. Harmon received her bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in English from the Pennsylvania State University.

Tracey Vasil Biscontini Receives the Top 25 Women in Business Award

March, 2009—Northeast Editing, Inc., is pleased to announce that its president and CEO, Tracey Vasil Biscontini has been named one of the Top 25 Women in Business in Northeast Pennsylvania. Each recipient of the award is recognized as a business owner and top performer in her field—a power broker in the regional economy. Biscontini and the other recipients will be honored at a luncheon at the Hilton Scranton Conference Center on June 9.

“This is an incredible honor,” explains Biscontini. “When I started Northeast Editing, Inc.,  in 1992,  I worked out of a home office, so I could be close to my young children. The company has grown. I now have eight full-time editors and more than 50 subcontractors. My staff and I work for some of the largest publishers in the country, and we truly love what we do and consider each other extended family.”

“Young professionals who want to find work in publishing usually have to move to major cities,” explains Marie Devers, a senior editor at Northeast Editing, Inc. “But Tracey’s employees make a living doing what they love right here in Northeast Pennsylvania. She is truly one of the best and brightest businesswomen in our area.”

The eighth annual Top 25 Women in Business Award is sponsored by the National Association of Women Business Owners and the Northeast Pennsylvania Business Journal.

Company Selected as Sole Vendor for Books & Authors

January, 2009—Northeast Editing, Inc., a full-service developer of print and digital products for educational publishers, is pleased to announce that it has been selected as the sole vendor to create new entries and update existing entries in Cengage Learning’s popular Books & Authors online database, which profiles more than 150,000 fiction books and 30,000 nonfiction books. Readers use Books & Authors to explore the endless possibilities of books, authors, and topics. The database is ideal for reading groups and book clubs and is utilized by libraries serving students, professionals, and casual readers. “It is a privilege to be chosen as the vendor that will manage this amazing product,” notes Northeast Editing, Inc.’s president and CEO Tracey Vasil Biscontini. “In these challenging times, to be awarded such a large contract is an incredible honor. My staff and I are avid readers, so creating and updating entries for Books & Authors is an enjoyable experience.”

Books & Authors is subscribed to by more than 5,000 libraries nationwide. Northeast Editing, Inc. will create 5,000 new entries and update 30,000 entries in 2009.  The company will hire and train more than 40 freelancers writers and editors to accomplish this task.
